| Can I have the tutoring at my convenience?
Yes. In order to provide the best tutor for your child,
we ask you to give us the widest range possible regarding
days and times you are available. Tutoring is available seven
days a week at times that are convenient for you.
Can our session be held outside the home?
In some cases we tutor at the local library. However, we
recommend that the sessions occur in your home. Not only is
this convenient, but it also represents the optimum environment
for tutoring. We do require that a parent or guardian over
the age of 21 be present in the home for the entire tutoring
session.
How does the tutoring work?
Our professional tutors determine the student's strengths
and weaknesses. The tutors then address the weaknesses, using
a step-by-step approach until the problems are resolved. To
do this, the tutor uses your child's books, worksheets, notes,
tests, and classroom information. Drawing on their skills
and experience, the tutors are constantly assessing and restructuring
the lessons to make the sessions successful. In addition,
free from the typical distractions of everyday life at school,
students are more at ease which allows them the opportunity
to focus.
My child isn't motivated. Can tutoring help?
It certainly can. Sometimes a student gets into a downward
spiral. He's behind and feels discouraged, so he stops trying.
This causes him to get further behind and more discouraged.
Our tutoring reverses this spiral. By working with the tutor,
the student will see that he can do some of the work. This
will lead to him feeling a little better about himself, working
a little harder, achieving more, becoming more encouraged
to work harder, and so on.
My child is doing well in school. Can you help her?
Yes, we can. The tutor can teach "beyond the A," making sure
the student has a comprehensive understanding of the subject.
Can I have a different tutor if my child and the tutor don't
"connect" well?
Absolutely! The professional relationship between the tutor
and student is vital for the student's success. If at any
time you feel that the tutor isn't a good match for your child,
just let us know, and we'll provide you with a more appropriate
tutor.
I homeschool my child. Can you still help?
Yes. We can provide a certified teacher or tutor to help
your student in specific areas depending on your choice of
curriculum for them.
How do I get started?
Give us a call or send an email letting us know a good time
to visit with you. We will discuss your student's needs during
our free in-home consultation. At that consultation, we ask
that you supply us with all relevant schoolwork, homework,
report cards, and testing results (if available.) The more
information we have available, the more detailed plan of action
we can make together. We will then find the best tutor for
your child. Once a match is made between student and tutor,
let the tutoring begin!
